Tim Armstrong has worked for MSL for over twenty years, initially in Length Standards but for the last nineteen years he has worked in the Time and Frequency area. During that time he was also involved with the successful MSL project to measure the Newtonian gravitational constant (G). This measurement produced three measurements of G, one of which is currently the internationally recommended value.
Prior to joining MSL, Tim worked as a Post-Doc at several universities in the Netherlands, UK and South Africa.
Tim is currently the Director of MSL and also holds the statutory title of Chief Metrologist of the Measurement Standards Laboratory as "verifying authority" in respect of units of measurement.
