Biography:

Prior to joining MSL in August 2016, Fung was studying and doing research at the atomic physics lab in University of Otago, Dunedin. His research was mainly focused on the experimental approach to consistently prepare single atoms inside a microscopic optical tweezer, laser cooling of an atom to its motional ground state, and counting atoms inside an optical microtrap. His other projects include the construction of a novel stabilized laser system. Outside of research, he has interest in science communication and had been regularly involved in optics and physics educational outreach programmes for schools in Otago/Southland area. His hobbies include tennis, photography and being outdoors.
